DIY cardigan clips

Hello dears,

I have been looking for cardigan clips quite a while. It seems impossible to find any from Finland so I decided to make cardigan clips on my own. I found from flea market old earrings which I used as clips. I put between the earrings a golden chain. I must warn you, it takes quite a lot time and also patience to make the clips. Or maybe it's just me. Sometimes I am a bit clumsy so I had a minor problems when I made the clips. But coz I am creative person I found a way to solve the problem. :)

Finished!

Internet is full of  instructions how to make cardigan clips. There I found a some really nice ways to make cardigan clips. So if you wanna make cardigan clips I recommend you to find information on internet. You can also get ideas from Instagram. I saw couple really beautiful clips on Instagram. There I actually got the idea to my cardigan clips.

DIY headboard

Hello dears,

I have wanted to decorate my bedroom somehow for years. I was reading decorating blogs and I read about how to make DIY headboard. I got really excited of the idea. Today I spend about a hour of making headboard. It's comes much cheaper to make one on your own than buy one. Besides when you make one on your own you will get unique headboard.

I had cardboard on my storage. I found the fabric on sale, it cost only 5 euros. Half of the fabric I used on headboard and the rest of the fabric I gonna make a skirt. I really like the pattern of the fabric. I had most of the stuff which I needed to make headboard already at home. I had only to buy the fabric. So making one didn't cost much to me. I had old blanket at home, it looked shabby so I used it as batting. I like to recycle stuffs that I don't need anymore, like the glass jars. It feels really bad to throw something away.

This is the final result. I love it!

If you're interested to make headboard on your own I recommed you to read some decorating blog or you can try to find inspiration on Instagram. Also YouTube is full of videos how to make headboard.

Flower half circle skirt

Hello dears,

Since it's long weekend I have had a lot of time to do things that I don't have time after work. Like sewing. I made a new half circle skirt. It actually didn't take much time to sew one. So I guess work is just really bad excuse, let's face it, I'm lazy to do anything after work.

One thing what I love about spring is that I'm very creative in the springtime. Like this weekend. I have decorated my flat, done crafts and so on. Speaking of crafts, I bought cross-stitch magazine today. It's full of great ideas! I gonna plan my own cross-stitch pattern later today. It's gonna be A LOT OF FUN! :D

But now back to the issue: half circle skirt. I wrote a blog about how to draw half circle skirt pattern earlier this week. Today I cut the fabric and sew the skirt and it's fabulous! I love it, now I hope the weather would get warmer so I could actually wear the skirt outside. If I would have different kind of fabrics at home I would have sew another skirt today.

First I had to cut the pieces

The skirt is finised! I love it!

I absolutely love 50's style skirts and dresses. It's the biggest reason why I'm so fond of circle skirts and circle dresses. Plus it's also very femine. What the heck, I do love 50's style outfits in general. Now I am dreaming of 50's style cardigan clips. If any of you knows how to make them, let me know.  I'm having a good flow for being creative so I gonna end writing here and open the google and try to find instructions how to make cardigan clips.

Till next time! Ciao!

Lahti on my mind

Hello dears,

Today I visited in Lahti. I visited my grandparents and I also met good friend of mine for a long time. We had a cup of coffee in really nice cafe called as Kahvila Oskari. It's in centre of Lahti. I knew where it was but honestly never been there, not even when I lived in Lahti. I warmly recommend everybody to have a cup of coffee there.

Welcome to cafe Oskari

The chandelier looks just awesome!

I liked the old stove a lot.

I liked a lot the atmosphere of the cafe. Old wooden houses are just great! Basicly we sat in the kitchen of old house when we drank coffee and talked. O boy and we talked and talked. We talked about teaching methods. I mentioned the German way to study (lernkartei) and my friend got really excited. Actually both of us did. We found many ways to improve it. We also talked relationship issues. Mostly about kids. The question of the day was, why it is okay to ask person who doesn't have kids and also doesn't want to have kids; why you don't have any kids? Nobody never asks someone who has kids why you wanted to have kids. One thing what we both have noticed is that there actually isn't many men who doesn't want kids. Which is a good thing for me, but not for my friend. We both agreed that when you're on relationship is very important that your partner thinks same way about having kids. It would be terrible to notice that my boyfriend wouldn't like to have kids. It would be very overwhelming to me. We also got excited about cross-stitch works. If anyone where to buy nice cross-stitch works let me know!

It was really nice to meet my friend again. We always have long and intense conversations. I have missed the conversation with her. We decided that we gonna talk via Skype on the future. Which sounds absolutely fantastic idea to me! It's great when you have a friend who with you are able to talk pretty much anything. It's golden to have friends like her.

Because I'm going to concert of Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox with my friend on May I will stop writing now and let you enjoy the music of PMJ. Enjoy!

Till next time! Ciao!

DIY birthday card

Hello dears,

Whole week I have wondered what kind of birthday card I should make to my grandpa. Today I finally got an idea. Origami flowers! So this morning I've made yellow and orange origami tulips. I gonna show you how to make origami flower. It's pretty easy and simple to make. I found it very relaxing to fold the paper, a bit like color the adult coloring book. Both makes me feel calm and relaxed. I googled instructions to make origami tulips and I found this:  how to fold a tulip

I made 8 origami tulips. I glued the tulips on empty card using a hot glue gun coz I want the flowers will stick on the card.

This is how the finised card looks like.

How to draw a half circle skirt pattern

Hello dears,

The spring is coming and it means soon I can wear a skirts and dresses again. Some of you might know how much I adore the way people dressed in 50's and 60's. I absolutely LOVE half circle skirts and circle skirts. Since it seems to be impossible to find any on shops why not to make one myself. So here is the pattern how to draw half circle dress. Let me know if you're interested to know how to make circle dress. I can write a blog about it later :)

So, let's start. Bacily it's ridiculously easy to make half circle skirt. You'll need two measurements: waist measurement and the skirt length.
You'll need your waist measurement and you'll divide it by pii. Pii is approximately 3,142.

For example:
Waist: 80cm (31,496 inches)
Skirt leight: 50cm (19,685 inches)
80/3,142= 25,5cm (31,496/3,142=10,024 inches)

First draw a right angle on the paper. Measure the result you just calculated from your waist measurement (25,5cm, 10,039inches) from the corner and draw a curve using a compass. Then measure the skirt length (50cm, 19,685 inches) from the curve you just created and mark the length evenly from the first curve. Join the dots into an even curve. Voilà, here you have the pattern for a half circle. You'll need to cut 2 pcs of these or cut it once on a fold. Easy isn't it?

Till next time! Ciao! :)

Easter decorations

Hello dears,

I got excited of Easter decorations today. After I finished coloring the eggs. I planted barley grass on eggshells. I also made stands for eggshells of toilet paper sleeves. I decorated toilet paper sleeves of old newspaper. Pretty simple and fast to do if you own a hot glue gun.

If you wanna grow grass on eggshell you should plant the seed at least 5 days before the Easter. (Read the instructions) All you need is eggshells, soil, and of course the seeds. And also water.

Now we can start. Wash the eggshells, then fill eggshell with soil. Moisten the soil. Sow the seeds. After that cover the seeds with soil. It's very important to follow the instructions on the packet. The temperature, amount of sunlight, and amount of water the seeds need will be detailed on the instructions.  So READ IT!

Now I hope the grass will actually grow. I keep my fingers crossed!

Till next time! Ciao!

DIY Easter eggs

Hello dears,

It's Palm Sunday so it's almost Easter. This Sunday, in Finland you may see little witches wandering door to door, offering to bless your home in return for treats. Anyhow, since the Easter is coming soon, to me it is the beginning of spring. I'm not religious person, but since I've got Lutheran upbringing I still do like some Easter habbits. For example painting the Easter eggs.

This year I tried a new way to color the eggs. This is all you need to do; Leave the eggs some minutes in the color ( I used food coloring) and then add some water. Do the same till the eggs are completely covered by water.
Very easy way to color the eggs and doesn't take that much time.

Another way I colored the eggs were with the nail polishes. You just need to add vinegar and nail polish to water and then dip the egg to the water. Also very easy and simple.

Here is a little tip if you decide to try to color the eggs like I did; use some kind of plastic gloves coz otherwise your hands going to be very dirty. I didn't used the gloves and now my hands are blue, yellow green and red.

Till next time! Ciao!

A day at the opera

Hello dears,

This week has been full of different kind of culture events. Finnish National Opera had open door days today. I went there with my friend. She wanted to visit in flea market, she hoped to find old tutu there. But nope, there wasn't any clothes for sale when we got there. I must say, I love to own a tutu too. I had one when I was kid and went to the ballet lessons. Anyhow, in the end we just explored the building. There was different kind of programme. Some of the events you needed a ticket. So we had to queue tickets for a tour behind the stage.

Before the tour we went to see reheasal of A Little Mermaid ballet. It's ballet for kids. Even so most of the audience were adults, without kids.

I know the quality of the photo sucks. But I guess you get the idea what happens on the photo :)

After the reheasal we walked around the building. It was possible to see outfits of operas and ballets. To see how the stage is build, I mean all the little and also bigger details...and so on.

It was also possible to go to listen arias. I really liked those. The last singer sang a O Sole Mio and I got goose bumps when he sang. He were THAT good. But again, I have always liked that song. Anyhow, it was perfect!

Musical programme of the day

She sang aria from opera La Rondine.

He sang O Sole Mio

The tour behind the stage was nice too. We visited in a rooms which the dresses, properties, props etc are made of. I really liked the part when we visited in a room where all the dresses are made. It was great to see drawings of the dresses etc.

Old ballet shoes

When the tour was finised we went to listen some more music. I wanted to hear musical saw. It sounded quite sad, almost melancholic. I liked it. Very much.

It was really great to visit at the opera. Now I love to go to see some preformance this spring or in autumn. I know The Phantm of the opera is on their program now. I really love to see it, but I have heard it's sold out. Such a shame!

Now I feel sort of tired, coz lots of walking and also got I really haven't ate anything today. I had busy morning, but now I'm back at home and I think it's a good idea to relax. I gonna warm up the sauna and cook something delicious as dinner. After all it's Saturday, why not to spoil myself a little ;)

Till next time! Ciao!

Exhibition day

Hello dears,

Since I'm having my winter vacation I had time to go to the exhibitions in Helsinki. In the end I went two different exhibitions. First I went to Ateneum to see exhibition called as Japanomania I spend over 2 hours in Ateneum. Exhibition was full of absolutely beautiful works. It's so suprising to see how common Japanese and Nordic culture is. My favorite paintings were about nature, I also liked a lot Japanese woodblock pictures. Those who are familiar with Japanese art knows the woodblock pictures as ukiyo-e Some years ago in Ateneum was ukiyo-e exhibition. Most of the woodblock pictures on Japanomania exhibition were same as ukiyo-e exhibition. Which was totally fine. I always find something new on woodblock pictures. Them are so calm and exquisite. Full of layers. I saw on the exhibition a quote of Oscar Wilde. He said about Japan and Japanese. "In fact the whole of Japan is pure invention. There is no such country, there are no such people...The Japanese people are simply a mode of style, an exquisite fancy of art." Well said, Mr. Wilde. I do agree with him.

The front of Ateneum.

On the exhibition was china from Japan, Japanese woodblocks, Nordic paintings, mostly painters from Finland and Norway, there was also a few Japanese rugs. Which were beautiful. It was also possible to take a photo of yourself wearing a yukata. I found there absolutely beautiful yukata. The fabric was so pretty! After seeing the exhibition I went to museum store. There was lots of awesome stuff from Japan. I need to go the museum shop some other day again. Maybe then I actually buy something from there.

This artwork was outside of Ateneum. It's made of old shirts.

After Ateneum I went to Cafe Espalandi. Had a cup of coffee while I was checking on web how to get to next exhibition. Which was in Bulevardi street.

We Have Inherited Hope – the Gift of Forgetting

The next exhibition that I went today was called as We Have Inherited Hope – the Gift of Forgetting It was quite social, tackled with difficult subjects, like refugee crisis. There was a work called as "Until sea shall him free" which was quite shocking. Made me think what kind of crazy world we are living.

And they took selfies as they ate carrots...

The fun part of this shocking exhibition were the rabbits. There was one work called as "And they took selfies as they ate carrots..." you were able to take a selfie with the rabbit. Or actually the rabbit took the selfie. I found it quite amusing. Or maybe I just have twisted sense of humour.

I still have a day left my vacation. I was thinking about going in EMMA tomorrow before my German lesson. I'm interested of exhibition called as "Ad Reinhardt / Art vs. History". I like political cartoons and satirical art comics. That's why it would be interesting to see the exhibition. But let's see...

Till next time! Ciao!

Munich

Hello dears,

I'm back at home! I was in Munich, Germany last weekend. It was my way to start a vacation and also celebrate my 10 year career in a company that I work at. To me it's a big deal to work in a same place that long. Let's face it, I'm still young. But most of all, I wanted to go there coz it's my favorite city in Europe. I just like the atmosphere in there. This time one of my long time dreams came true. I finally went to see Bundesliga match, and what is the most important thing, it was match of FC Bayern München. Pretty awesome to be in Allianz Arena and watch football!

Something really suprising happened. I didn't had actual plans what I going to do in Munich. Usually when I travel I have made lots of plans what to do, where to go, and in what order. This time I only knew that I am going to see football on Saturday evening. And also that I like to visit in Residenz and Alte Pinakothek. That was pretty much all. And I did all of that. I also visited a few churches. Funny how only way to get me in the church is when I travel. I also did a lot of walking around the city. Which was fun! I think walking around is the best way to see the city.

This head of lion was front of Residenz museum. If you touch the head it suppose to bring you a good luck. So let's see how lucky I will be in the near future ;)

On Saturday I started my day with art in Alte Pinakothek. It was very impressive art museum. Such a shame that most of the museum was closed but I was able to see the classics. Most of them were German
classics.

Alte Pinakothek

I saw cherry blossoms in Munich. That sure is sign of the spring. Seeing cherry blossoms made me very happy. It's beautiful flower. As some of you know, it's my favorite flower.

On Saturday evening I went to see football in Allianz Arena. The match was very entertaining if you are fan of FC Bayern. If not, it was suffer to watch the match. The match ended 5-0 and I was kinda suprised of the result coz usually when I go to see sport event the team that I support doesn't win. So it was definitely a positive suprise. O yes, I forgot, it wasn't match of Finnish football team, sorry my bad...

Allianz Arena on evening. Looks stunning!

I also did a little shopping when I was in Munich. One things that just HAD to buy was a new shirt of die Mannshaft with four stars. Summer is coming, and so is EURO2016. Now I have something to wear when I go to see the matches with my friends.

I didn't got shirt of Schweinsteiger, but I got lady fit shirt.

Now this football fanatic says bye bye! Till next time! Ciao!
