If life gives you demons, make a deal

Hello dears,

I started to do cross-stitch work tonight. I got excited and finished the work. My poor hand was aching when I finished the work. It was worth it. I think it looks great!
I had idea of lyric cross-stitch work with a little rose. I ended up Frank Turner's "Demons" coz the song makes me feel better then I feel sad. The song starts with sentece "If life gives you demons, make a deal."  I used Cross Stitch Writing Tool to create te pattern to the text. The pattern for a rose I found online.

I need to buy a frame for the work. I gonna put it somewhere on my living room. Now I am planning a new cross stitch work. Next week we celebrate Mother's Day in Finland.  My next cross stitch work gonna be some kind of flower. I will use it on Mother's Day card to my mother.

Till next time!

Vintage shops in Helsinki

Hello dears,

I have wanted to do a little vintage shop tour in Helsinki quite a while. If you want to have a personal style vintage shops are the great way to have a something unique to your wardrobe. I was looking for a little hangbag with my circle dresses and circle skirts.

I started my tour from Töölö, a shop called as Penny Lane. The shop is in Töölö. It's easy to go there with tram 2. There was absolutely beautiful evening dresses from 20's. Such a shame that I don't have any use for dress from 20's. Especially if it's a evening dress. I also saw there a pretty polka dot dress from 50's. It was size 36 so it was too small to me. What a shame! I have looked for that kind of dress for a while. One thing that I noticed during my tour was that most of dresses were small sizes. Which was quite disappointing. I didn't bought anything.

Another shop on my tour was called as Hoochie Mama Jane in Kallio. Tram 3 goes near to the shop. Hoochie Mama Jane was the main reason why I have wanted to do vintage shop tour. I have heard lot of that shop. It was full of pretty things. I liked the old accessories, the earrings, brooches etc. I bought a little brown handbag from 50's. I'm sure I will go in Hoochie Mama Jane again.

In a near future I like to do another vintage store tour, this time only in Kallio area. I met friend of mine in Kallio after visiting in Hoochie Mama Jane and she told me that Kallio is full of this kind shops. I gonna ask my friends if they like to join to the tour. My idea is this; exploring the vintages shops in Kallio and a brunch. Sounds like a nice way to spend Saturday.

Balcony flowers

Hello dears,

Since the spring is finally here it was time to get some flowers on my balcony for spring and also summer. So yesterday I found myself in Plantagen. Which quite often means that I will buy lots of flowers etc. This time I bought 5 geraniums, a violet,  2 Schizanthus and ivies. O yes and also 10 liters of soil.
I still like to have some flowers on my balcony. I was thinking about a hanging basket full of flowers. Bellflowers would be nice as shade of red. Even I saw really lovely blue bellflower hanging baskets, but problem is that flowers were blue. If I have a vision about something nothing really can't change my mind about it. This time it means the main color of the flowers MUST be shades of red.

Flower power!

When I got back home I planted the flowers and cleaned the balcony. I even got candle to the balcony table. I need more candles on the balcony. I like to burn candles on summer evenings and sit on the balcony and read a book or talk with my friends. At least my balcony looks pretty now what ever I decide to do in there.

This is how my balcony looks now..
Garden gnome with violets and ivies

Another garden gnome

Yes. I do collect garden gnomes.

As you may have noticed that I do have 4 garden gnomes on my balcony. I still like to have a couple more. I just don't know where to put them. Even my balcony looks ready I think it still needs a little something to be an oasis.

Till next time!

The lady is a...

Hello dears,

Like some of you already knows I am a fan of 50's style and vintage style. Today I bought my second full circle dress. I have wanted one for a while. It's not a suprise to anyone that it's a flower dress. I love flower dresses! A friend of mine said to me "Flower dresses are your thing" Never really thought about it, but yea she was right about it.
I gonna wear the dress next month when I go to concert of Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox. So before the concert I like to have a new petticoat. I was thinking about rosa or peach colored petticoat. Let's see if I am able to find one before the concert. Wish me a good luck to the petticoat hunt!

What do you think about the dress? Stunning? Isn't?

Positive songs for negative people

Hello dears,

Last night I went to Tavastia club to see a concert of Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls. I had high expectations of the concert. It was what I waited for it! Simply brilliant!
I was front of the stage so I saw whole show perfectly. Which was kinda refreshing. Usually I'm somewhere middle of the audience and usually it means I will miss half of the show. You'll see, I'm not that tall.
Anyhow, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Soulds is a great live band. The concert was entertaining. This week I read NME's article about live music and how it reduces stress level. I do agree, I do feel stress free at the moment. So thanks for the great concert!

Here's a few pics from the concert:

A day in Suomenlinna

Hello dears,

My sister called me this morning and asked do I have any plans for today. She wanted to go in Nuuksio with me and my niece but coz the bad weather we decided to go in Suomenlinna fortress. The weather were much better in Helsinki than in Nuuksio.

We met in Helsinki main railway station and from there we walked to Kauppatori where we took a ferry to Suomenlinna. We walked around the fortress seeing the all the important sights in there. My sister told me she's never been in Suomenlinna before. So it was first time for her and my niece to visit there. It was nice to have a walk in there. We had a little pause and ate some snacks. After we had ate the snack the weather started to get rainy. We decided to walk back to the harbour and take ferry back to the Helsinki.

Everything must go

Hello dears,

Yesterday I finally saw one of my favorite bands on stage. They're called as Manics Street Preachers. I really didn't had any expenctation of the concert. I knew they will play their album " Everything must go" I kinda thought it's going to be all they will play, o boy I was wrong. Instead of an hour of absolutely fantasic live music, they played almost 2 hours.

Welcome to the love boat called as Manic Street Preachers" welcomed James Dean everybody to their concert, then they played "Everything must go" album. After that they played some of their greatests hits, which suited me better than well. I heard pretty much all of my favorite songs yesterday. Most of them were on "Everything must go" album, it was also great to hear songs like "Suicide is painless", " You Stole The Sun From My Heart" and "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next"

The band didn't spoke much to the audience but when they did they were quite funny. Like after they had played "Everything must go" album James Dean asked what we like to hear. People started to shout titles of their favorite songs, and somebody shouted "Wonderwall"  James Dean commented it by playing the beginning of the song and then said "No fuck" and started to play another song. The joke was that "Wonderwall" isn't song of Manics. Those who have listened British rock in 90's knows it's song of Oasis. Very famous band at the time in UK and also in Europe.

I must say I liked the concert a lot. The concert was very positive suprise to me. Lately I haven't really been for mood to go any concerts. Maybe coz I really had any expenctations of the concert it was so good. Good music, better spirit! Remember that! :)

Put on your red shoes and dance the blues!

Hello dears,

Last Friday I saw on Facebook advertisement sample sale of Minna Parikka. On her store was on sale lots of shoes and also bags, prices were 50-150 euros. Which were ridiculously cheap! So after work I found myself on queue to her store. I was on queue about 2 hours before I got in to the store. I decided if I have to wait for 2 hours to get to the shop I HAVE to buy a new shoes. It owuld have been really frustrating to stand on the queue that long and not to buy anything. I bought http://www.minnaparikka.com/en/raquel-red-nappa. I absolutely love the shoes, them gonna looks absolutely fantastic with my full circle dress.

I'm quite glad that I bought the shoes even them were a bit expensive. But every euro were worth of it. Now I've shoes of Minna Parikka and them are super kawaii as my friend said to me. I found lot of lovely things on site of Minna Parikka. I guess I need to start to save money to have such a pretty expesive things. haha.

A morning in Nuuksio national park

Hello dears,

Since the weather is getting warmer and warmer I decided to start my hiking season today. So I packed some supplies and I took a bus to Nuuksio national park. I was suprised that there was so many people at 11 o'clock. Most of them were tourists. There was also scouts. Lots of them. Anyhow, it was a great idea to go for a walk in Nuuksio. I'm glad that I live nearby such a lovely place like Nuuksio.
Even in it still was a bit snow in Nuuksio I saw during my trip 3 butterflies. I was really suprised to see butterflies in April! The spring is really already here!

Looking for inspiration at Spring Fair

Hello dears,

I can't believe it. It's already April. Last a few weeks I have been looking for inspiration and also ideas how to decorate my balcony for spring and also for summer. This year I am taking this task very seriously. My balcony needs to look like a little garden when I'm finised. I want when people go to my balcony they sense the romantic vibe and the verdancy. The problem is I'm not sure how to do it. I have lots of ideas but not sure which ones I should fulfill. That's why I went to Kevätmessut-Spring Fair to have some inspiration and also ideas how to decorate my balcony. Well let's say that visiting the fair was very helpful. I got bunch of ideas and I also bought bunch of red rose begonias. Pretty flowers, just what I want to have to my balcony.

Here's a few pics of my favorite things at the fair.

Tulips.

I absolutely love this kind flower still lifes.
