A day at the pool

Hello dears!

Today I went to Allas sea pool with my friend. Allas sea pool is a sea spa in Helsinki. There's two warmed pools and one sea pool where the water temperature is same as in the sea. For a some reason I did prefered warmed pool with 28 degreed water instead chilly sea water. I must say I really liked the spa. At least there were a nice view of the Helsinki, or what do you think?

A nice view, or what do you think?
We spend half a day at the pool and trust me, you would notice it if you could see me now. When other people get a nice tan, I turn red...ish. Even when I DO use sun cream. I think I should start to use sun creams for babies and small kids. Maybe that way I will avoid getting a sunburn.

Turning red...ish.
Anyhow, I am sure that I will visit Allas sea pool again during my summer vacation. It's a nice way spend a half a day or whole day. Next time, I am sure to use different kind sun cream to avoid the redish skin. ;)

Till next time!

Päijänne National Park

Hello dears!

This weekend I visited my mother. We had planned to do a little hiking trip together in summer. So yesterday we went to Päijänne National Park. We went to area called as Pulkkilanharju. I think it's one of the prettiest nature areas in Finland. That lake view in there is just breathtaking! The hiking route itselfs wasn't long, only 4,4km. It was also very easy to walk, even without hiking shoes. Which I didn't took with me coz I knew the route isn't too challenging.

Welcome to Päijänne National Park!
My favorite thing at the national park was the beautiful lake view of Päijänne. Which by the way is one of the biggest lakes in Finland.

It was great to visit another national park than Nuuksio. In Finland is a new national park, Hossa. It's one of the places which I like to visit in a near future. Maybe Hossa going to be next national park which I gonna visit. ;)

Till next time!

Camping in Nuuksio National Park

Hello dears,

Hello again! As some of you already knows that I do love hiking, forest etc. And that one of my favorite places in Espoo is Nuuksio National Park. Yesterday was the day of the nature in Finland. It was also sleep a night outside day. Coz I'm member of Partioaitta I got a tent loan for free at the Hotel Nuuksio. Before my hiking trip I had to get the tent at the hotel. Good thing was that at the hotel there was a route to actual hiking route.

Ready to go!
When I arrived to Holma-Saarijärvi camping area I build my tent and then just enjoyed the lovely summer day in the forest.

My tent and the lake view.
I spend most of the day by reading a book and listening the birds to sing. Which I found really relaxing. Being in the nature is to me a great way to relax. I enjoy the silence of the nature. I guess that's one reason why I like to go hiking.

A beautiful sunset in Nuuksio.
I must say I slept my night much better in the nature than at my own bed. I guess it must be the fresh air. For a some reason I got up before 6am and went a little walk.

Nuuksio at 5:50 am.
Luckily I was able to fell asleep again. When I finally woke up I did a fire and boiled some water for my coffee.

Breakfast in the nature.
After my breakfast I was ready to continue my hiking trip. During the Sunday I hiked about 12km. I must say I was so happy when I finally got back home. I really missed my shower. haha.
Now I am planning my next camping trip. And next time I wanna sleep on hammock. It's just I don't own one yet, so I need to buy one before my next camping trip.

Till next time!

Aland

Hello dears,

I know, I know it's been a while the last time I updated my blog. Some sad things happened in my family so I haven't been on mood to do anything, well, until now.

I did a weekend trip to Aland. Aland is an archipelago at the entrance to the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea belonging to Finland. We arrived to habour of Marienhamn on Saturday evening. After we got our things to the hotel we went to walk around the centre of Marienhamn, which by the way ins't huge. You really can't get lost in there.  I have been in Aland before when I was a kid but since there's many years of my last visit I really didn't remembered much. My first impression about the Marianhamn was "idylic". I liked the town a lot.

On Sunday morning after our breakfast at the hotel we jumped into the bus and our tour in Aland started. We went to countryside to visit an old castle, Kastenholm Castle. I did mentioned earlier that I have been in Aland before so I have seen the Castle but never been inside of it. Since I do LOVE history and old buildings, visiting Kastenholm Castle was highlight of the trip.

Near to the castle was country village museum where you could see how people lived in the countryside. What I really liked the village was the windmills. As you can see they were red, as almost every building in Aland.

After visiting the castle and village the bus drove around the island, we went other side the island and damn, I loved the view in there. A pure, beautiful archipelago view. Who wouldn't love it? Or maybe I just love sea.

At least I did enjoyed my time in Aland. It would be great to visit there again. I have been planning a cycling trip to Aland with my friends for years. Hopefully it will happen some day :)

Till next time!

Ciao!

Matcha and lemon marble cake

Hello dears,

Some of you knows that I love matcha. I love it as tea, as flavor on smoothie, on cookies and cakes etc. I wanted to make marble cake with a twist so I decided to add a hint of matcha and lemon on it.

Matcha and lemon marble cake:

Ingredients

200g butter
2dl sugar
3dl flours
½ dl potato flour
2 tsp baking flour
2tsp vanilla sugar
2 tbsp matcha
3 tbsp lemon juice

1. Preheat oven to 170C
2. Butter the loaf ban using a slice of butter.
3. Mix the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one by one. Mix well.
4. Mix the flours. Fold the dry ingredients in 2-3 folds. Mix well.
5. Add the vanilla sugar and mix well.
6. Divide the batter into 2 bowls. Put lemon juice and zest into one bowl and matcha powder into the other. Gently mix together with a rubber spatula.
7. Pour the 2 batter mixtures a little at a time into the buttered loaf pan and run a spoon or spatula through it until you get a marbled effect. Careful not to over mix as the cake will just come out brown rather than marbled.
8.Bake the cake for roughly 45 minutes, sticking a skewer or knife into the centre and if it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
9. Let the cake cool before serving.

The day of culture

Hello dears,

Yesterday I had museum marathon. I visited 5 museums. I finally bought museum card to myself. It allows me to visit in 240 museums in Finland for free, just showing the museum card. Pretty awesome! It's perfect for someone who loves to visit in the museums. Like I do. What a cultural journey I will have this year. Anyhow. The museum marathon. I started my marathon from National museum of Finland where was "The Renaissance. Now!" exhibition. On exxhibition was  oil paintings By Italian Renaissance artists. I liked the exhibition. Even some paintings were slightly said disturbing.

Like this one. Very disturbing.

The next museum was HAM, Helsinki art museum. There was exhibition of Yayoi Kusama, In infinity. I liked it a lot. There was lots of dots, balls and more dots. Lovely!

Balls everywhere!
The third museum I visited was Sinebrychoff Art Museum. I wanted to see their current exhibition, Still Life- The World on Display. Most of the paintings were still life paintings from Netherlands.

This one was my favorite painting.
After still life paintings I went to see exhibition about history of Finnish art in Ateneum. There's a few paitings of Hugo Simberg. He's one of my favorite Finnish painters. I like his paintings about death. His painting, on the river of life is one of my favorite paintings.

On the river of life.
The last museum I visited was Kiasma. It was my first time to visit there. Mostly coz I never been fan of modern art. I must say, I did liked the exhibition of Mona Hatoum.

Red globe.
After my museum marathon I met a friend and we went to see some light art in LUX Helsinki. There was many beautiful works. I think I might go there again today or tomorrow coz I didn't see all the works yesterday.

TELLMEHOWDOIFEEL
Till next time! Ciao!
